Graduated from the Sverdlovsk Architectural Institute (1973), specialty "Artistic Design". In 1973-1975 he worked in the State Design Bureau of Compressor Engineering (now JSC "NPP "Start"), in 1975-1977 - in the Ural branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Technical Aesthetics (VNIITE). Since 1977 — in pedagogical work: Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Public Professions of the Ural Forestry Institute (until 1979); teacher, in 1984-1995 - Director of the Sverdlovsk Evening Art School. From 1986 to 1989 he was the head of the Experimental Art Association (ECHO), one of the organizers of the first experimental art exhibition in Sverdlovsk "Surikova, 31". Since 1995 he has been the head of the experimental art school-studio. Among the students of L.L. Khabarov are outstanding artists of Yekaterinburg: Elena Gladysheva, Vladimir Romanov, Anatoly Makarov, Alexander Korepanov, Irina Volosnyakova, Lidia Chupryakova, Viktor Oborotistov, Elena Serebrova, Dmitry Devyatov.
