Vladimir Smelkov

Smelkov Vladimir Mikhailovich was born on June 5, 1945 in Moscow. He received his professional education at the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905 in 1968-72 in the class of Tatiana Selvinskaya, daughter of the famous poet Ilya Selvinsky. The art workshops of the famous Robert Falk and Alexander Tyshler, friends of her father, were her second home and holy of holies for the students of the class. The living thread of the Silver Age was carefully carried by Selvinskaya and handed over to students, including Vladimir Smelkov.

Being a graduate of the theater and decoration department of the Moscow Art School in memory of 1905, Vladimir Mikhailovich for several years worked as the main artist in the Lysva Drama Theater, Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Youth Theater, creating more than a hundred sketches for theatrical scenery. In 1981 he became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.

His passion for theatrical art, the artist subsequently transferred in easel works. In them, fantasy plots and conventionality in the image surprisingly get along with a detailed study of the space and the main characters, which only strengthens the authenticity of the unique author's vision. Mysterious and ironic, his works demonstrate the great maneuverability of the artist in the choice of technical means that each time give birth to a small performance. His works are in museums, galleries and private collections in Russia, Europe and America.
